Pritti

Looking forward to the Sunday picnic. Everyone is asking what are we going to eat. But I just want to know who will be there. I love it when we all get together. I love being part of this group, this family. The stories, the laughter, the hugs, all will make a wonderful memory. I can't wait.

Sunday picnic menu

Main Boerewors or mustard-honey pork sausages served with potato cakes (in a crispy breadcrumb crust) and tiziki, or if you're under 12 years, tomato sauce. Chicken kebabs served with salad. Deluxe Walford salad or a baby spinach cranberry salad with peas and feta.
Add to your meal (at no extra cost) Rosa tomatoes. Olives. Gherkins. Boiled eggs.
Snacks Lay's chips - salt and pepper. Chipniks. Peanut brittle. Chomp. Apple. Orange. Banana. Strawberry joghurt.
Teatime Apricot jam squares. Spicy apple squares.
Drinks Bottled water - still. Sodas - Coke, Creme Sodas, Sprite. Beer - Windhoek Draught.
Kiddies menu Bovril sandwiches. Cheddar cheese blocks.

Rousey

I saw a man jump off the mountain with a giant plastic bag. Mom says it's a parachute. He looked like a big bird gliding through the air. He landed on the beach and he was a man again, his parachute collapsed like a popped balloon.

Abeji

My father is teaching me to fish. It takes soooo long. He says I must be patient. We wait all day. He tells me stories to pass the time. We have to put the little fish back. I caught a big fish once. My father asked me if I wanted to take it home to eat or put it back. It looked so sad. We put it back and it swam away on turbo.

Baamaama

I love daisies. They look so friendly. Their yellow faces smile at me. Their white petals stretch to reach the sun.

Pembe Pembe

What makes me so nice
I have to think twice
What is it the makes me smile
That makes me go the extra mile
I hear the angels singing above
It's love, it's love, it's love
Why should I try to deny
What you see with a naked eye
Running through the daffodills
I am head over hills
It is true
In love with you.

Sweethearts in the making

Are these the cutest little sweethearts ever? They still need to be sewn up and their decorative neck bands added.

Salma and Saami

Hi, I am Salma. And I am Saami. We’re twins. But not identical. Yes, your nose is longer. And I am stronger. Just because you are a boy it doesn’t mean you’re stronger. You’re more pushy, always trying to get ahead of me. Well, I was in the world before you, so I was ahead from the start. Argh, I could just push you over right now.

I always know what he’s thinking. I always know what she’ll do next. Like what? Like you’re going to eat all those sweets. Mom bought them for us. Yes, for us! You don’t even like sweets. So? You can have all the green ones, I don’t like them. No, I want the orange ones. Those are my favourites. The oranges and the black ones. Mom said we have to share. The oranges and the black ones are mine. I am telling mom. You’re such a girl.

Sigh! Sibling rivalry, it’s everywhere.

The next generation

I have made these four Pretty Ugly Creatures over the last two weeks. The first two are twins, Saami and Salma. They will be delivered to a baby shower on Saturday for a woman who is having twins, a boy and a girl. Then there's Peenot, a gift for a boy whose dog has died. The last one in the row is Pembe Pembe. You'll see them featured individually once their stories have been recorded.

A crocodile in fox clothing

Argh! Luckily I used scraps to try out a new pattern. Epic fail. The fox looks like a crocodile. A orange but happy crocodile. So, I have obviously trashed this pattern.
Although, I must say, he does have a certain charm.

Starting fresh, with new fabric

I am so glad I went out eventually to buy new fabric. Now I can make those 'girly' PrettyUgly Creatures that I have been promising everyone. I don't know why it is that all the 'girly' PrettyUgly Creatures were sold out and I have been left with a bunch of boys in the cupboard (closet ;-)
